Here are the biggest red flags that a hotel may be unsafe.

1: broken locks or damaged doors.
If the lock feels loose, leave immediately.
2: dark hallways and poor lighting.
Unsafe hotels often cut costs on security.
3: no visible security cameras or staff.
Especially late at night.
4: emergency exits blocked or hard to find.
Huge fire hazard.
5: dangerous design features inside your room, like invisible steps in the floor, low beams or ceilings or split levels with no safety fence.
Trust your instincts. If a hotel feels wrong, there’s usually a reason.
